2023 Youth Leadership Award

The JTeach.ca Youth Leadership Award will be given to honour the achievements of graduating GTA or York Region high school students demonstrating leadership in activities related to furthering connection to Jewish identity and/or in connection to strategies for countering antisemitism amongst elementary and secondary students. Honourees will be recognized for their successful balancing of Jewish leadership, high school academics and community service.

A one-time award of $500 each will be given to 2 deserving graduates. This scholarship will be used to further their education at an accredited college, university, or vocational school.

JTeach.ca Youth Leadership Award Criteria

Qualifications include:

*Jewish youth in their graduating year of high school

*Residents of the Greater Toronto Area or York Region (Ontario)

*Actively involved in guiding elementary or secondary students in Jewish identity affirming activities and/or in strategies for countering antisemitism

*Strong Academic Record

*Leadership activities in Jewish service

Application process includes:

* Youth Leadership Award Application

*Cumulative high school transcript or other acceptable proof of grades

*Activity Resume-listing awards, outside activities and Jewish participation

*Two letters of recommendations  

A. High school teacher or counselor

B. Rabbi, Jewish organization director, or Jewish mentor

*A 500 word or less essay on ONE of the below selected topics. The selection committee will weigh this heavily.

A. How has your Jewish life shaped the person you are today?

B. What future project would you engage in to connect Jewish youth with their Jewish identity or to empower Jewish youth to stand against antisemitism?
